The Current Layer is highlighted in the footer of the panel. This is the layer where your Layer Styles and Presets are applied to. You can easily switch to another layer through the Layers Menu.
By default your current layer is the uppermost layer of your selection.
<aside> βπ» With one exception: When you change your selection and the current layer is still included in that selection. In that case the current layer will not be changed!

When you switch on Live Update
. Your Layers and Layer Styles are continuously updated in the panel. Therefore giving it a more intuitive user experience.
<aside> β οΈ Live Update is an experimental feature
Due to limitations of After Effects Scripting this is now a heavy operation that can cause lag on older machines or for example when typing in After Effects. It is therefore adviced to only use it when you are working with the panel and not use it on some βolderβ machines.
